Breaking information: Earthquake of magnitude 6.5 strikes Alaska Peninsula

An earthquake of magnitude 6.5 struck the Alaska Peninsula on Monday, the European Mediterranean Seismological Centre stated.

The earthquake, which struck east of Chignik, was at a depth of 75 km (46.60 miles), EMSC stated.

No tsunami warning was issued after the earthquake struck.
