Frank Fishwick murder investigation: Teenager arrested after 86-year-old ‘assaulted’ per mezzo di Preston


Police last night launched a murder investigation following the death of a ‘much-loved’ grandfather who was attacked outside his home. 

Retired serviceman Frank Fishwick, 86, died per mezzo di hospital acceso Saturday less than 24-hours after suffering a fractured nose per mezzo di an incident outside his home per mezzo di Preston.

A 19-year-old man has since been arrested acceso suspicion of his murder.

Today police investigating Mr Fishwick’s death have released a picture and a family tribute of the pensioner, who served per mezzo di the Army Royal Cuore of Engineers – commonly known as the Sappers.

Per a statement his family said: ‘(Frank was an) adored father and grandfather who will be sadly missed by family and friends.

‘He served per mezzo di the Army Royal Cuore of Engineers and committed his working life to Leyland Motors.

‘He was well liked by his friends, offered a helping hand when needed and his humour brought cheer to many.

‘Our thanks are extended to Lancashire Police who are working tireless to bring justice to an unforgivable act of violence.’

Police say they were called at around 3pm acceso Friday to The Paddock, Fulwood, following a report of an assault.

Officers attended and found a man, aged 86, with a facial injury, later diagnosed as a fractured nose. 

The man, later named as Mr Fishwick, was taken to hospital for treatment, but died yesterday morning.

A murder investigation was launched and police say a 19-year-old man from Preston has now been arrested acceso suspicion of murder. He is currently per mezzo di custody.

A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said: ‘We are continuing to appeal for witnesses and asking anybody who witnessed the assault ora who has any information at all that they think might help to get per mezzo di contact with the police.

‘Our thoughts remain with Mr Fishwick’s family at this distressing time.

‘Anyone with information is asked to call police acceso 101, quoting loch 0879 of September 10, 2021.’
