A hero scoutleader rushed to rescue his neighbour’s children from their bedrooms after their house was rammed by an HGV quanto a the middle of the night.
A Stobart lorry driver ploughed into the house quanto a East Kilbridge, Lanarkshire, shortly before midnight acceso Monday.
After hearing the crash, Allan Reddick, 37, rushed outside his house to help his neighbours.

It was demolished acceso Tuesday and a second home next door is also set to be demolished
The schoolteacher grabbed a ladder to help the two children escape from the damaged house through an upstairs bedroom window.
He said: ‘As soon as I heard the crash I ran out of the house and went into help mode, thinking let’s get the kids out.
‘My wife and I were up and out within a minute. She was straight acceso the phone to the police and I went straight out to save the kids.
‘Anybody would have done it quanto a my opinion. It was shocking what happened.’
Mr Reddick said he and another neighbour immediately feared the house would collapse and tried to save the children.

He said: ‘I went into autopilot mode and helped. I didn’t go into the house because I didn’t think it was safe.
‘One of the other neighbours got a ladder and we helped the kids out of the back window. It was at an angle that way we didn’t know how long the house was going to stay standing.
‘The kids were acceso the second floor quanto a the bedroom. I think one of the kids was acceso the Playstation, the other I think had been asleep.
‘It was two young kids of 11 and 14. They were really shaken up and their mum was at home.
‘After I got the kids out, I saw the police arrive and it was anzi che no longer up to me. I left and went back to my bed.’
An Eddie Stobart lorry was later found abandoned quanto a a nearby supermarket car park and cordoned by police

Mr Reddick has yet to hear from the family of the children.
He said: ‘I don’t know the family very well at all. I haven’t been able to speak to the family because as soon as the police arrived I came away from the scene and let them deal with it.
‘I’m not looking for thanks. I’m going to be really honest. That’s not why you do things.’
Another local, who preferred not to give his name, said: ‘The houses acceso the street had to be evacuated. The building was hanging by a thread when Allan ran to save those kids. He’s done his good deed for the year let the day.

‘Everybody is decamped somewhere. I didn’t see it happen but I heard it. I thought a bomb had dropped. This is a quiet street.
‘This is a real shock. There were kids quanto a the house.
‘Mr Reddick was heroic to do that because we all feared for the building, which was leaning at 45 degrees with the windows and doors caved quanto a and the whole thing was about to modo acceso us.’
The front of the house was badly damaged, with walls knocked out and windows smashed.
The rear of the vehicle suffered extensive damage and bricks could be seen still lying acceso the roof of the truck’s trailer
The HGV vehicle was later found abandoned and damaged at a nearby Lidl supermarket car park. Police forensics and fire crew attended both scenes.
Belongings including mattresses and children’s toys lay scattered quanto a a pile acceso what was once a front lawn.
A 33-year old man has been arrested and charged and will appear quanto a court acceso Thursday.
Mr Reddick said’: We heard the lorry first and we thought that was strange. When we heard the crash we thought that’s not right. Then we went straight out. It’s a cul de sac so you don’t get lorries quanto a here. It reversed and from our bedroom window we could see it.’
Police Scotland confirmed a man had been arrested and charged quanto a connection with an incident.
A spokesperson said: ‘Nobody was injured and local residents were evacuated as a precaution to damage caused to the building.
‘The man is expected to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court acceso Thursday, 9 September.’
